Driftwood Resort: the perfect getaway for beach bums

The attached photos were taken at the "Driftwood Resort and Waldo's Resturant" A few weeks ago I took a trip to the East coast of Florida and stayed in Vero Beach. On the beach you will find an interesting resort called the Driftwood and it's attached resturant called Waldo's. The food and drinks were excellent and the view of the water is hard to beat. The most interesting thing about the place was it's history. The now historic location was built by a man named Waldo Sexton.Coming to Florida in 1914 on a sales trip he decided to stay Establishing a orange grove and a dairy farm within a few years.Becoming a land developer with a passion for many things, Vero Beach being one.The resort was originally built for Waldo's family beginning in 1935 and was called the Breezeway. Expanded in 1937 and 1939. The restaurant was added in 1947.Waldo was an interesting man with unusual collections like his bells that can been seen all around the resort. Built from various materials and salvaged articles the resort is decorated with antiques and oddities. Both the resort and restaurant are worth  spending some time at for any beach comber/beach bum. Located at 3150 Ocean Dr. Vero Beach Fl. 32963
